Kruunu

Neither of us speaks Finnish, but we find some of the words interesting to pronounce. Many words have entered our dictionary by chance, but only a few of them established a rather permanent status in our everyday life. As non-Finnish speakers, however, we’ve adopted the sound of the words only and added our own meaning to each of them.

The most recent case in point is kruunu.

Regardless of its actual definition, the way we pronounce it and the gesture we make alongside creates a whole new meaning for us. The word has taken on varied definitions over time, but at this point, its meaning should be closest to; “I know, you crook.”

The journey of Krunnu Kruunu begins as such.
